Gerard, Maj.-Gen. M. G. Report on the Proceedings of the Pamir Boundary Commission. Calcutta, Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, India, 1897, 1st ed., Foolscap Folio (33 x 21cm), iv, 99pp., original printed paper covered boards, wormed, housed in purpose made cloth covered box with folding lid & red leather lettering label. Full and absorbing account of the work of Major-General Gerard's Commission that met with a Russian deputation under General Povalo-Shveikovsky in the remote Pamir region of High Asia in 1895, charged with demarcating the boundary between Russian and British spheres of interest from Lake Victoria eastwards to the Chinese border. Report contains much first-hand background detail on the region, peoples, routes and trade, with a Narrative of the Proceedings of the Commission, Historical Notes, Geographical Description, Natural History &c. Very scarce as just 250 copies printed and undoubtedly a rare survival with stamps of Army HQ Central Library, Simla (section Russia in Asia, Pamirs No 16) and Quarter-Master Generals Department, Intelligence Branch.
