Kyz-Zhibek. Alma-Ata, Academy of Science of Kazakhstan Publishing, 1963, 1st ed., 8vo (22 x 15cm), 337 pp. Boards. In Russian. Kazakh folk lyric poem dated back to 17th century. Named after the heroine, the beautiful Kyz Zhibek. This is one of the most expressive and brilliant in the form of lyrical poems of Kazakh folklore. The plot is built on the approval of the levirate custom, but the ethical core of the poem was hymning fidelity in love and friendship, courage and patriotism. Poem performed by many akyns (Kazakh folk singers). The original text was published in 1894.
