About Us

Established in 2009, Sogdiana Books is the United Kingdom’s foremost internet bookseller specializing in history, ethnography, linguistics, archaeology and art of Inner Asia. The internet bookshop specialises in material related to these areas and stocks a wide range of both original and reference material in the following categories: History, Geography, Natural History, Ethnography, Linguistic Studies, Oriental Studies, Photography, Central Asian and Islamic Art, Carpets and Textiles, Travels, and Documents and Manuscripts.

We travel widely in the region of Central Asia and have strong professional links with academic world, book dealers and private collectors from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

Sogdiana Books is a compact yet highly professional group of experts in out-of-print and rare books relating to Inner Asia, Chinese, Iranian and Turkic worlds. We can communicate in many languages, including English, French, Russian and Chinese. When required we provide expertise which is beyond our capabilities, we create somewhat a ‘task group’ which includes one of the most reputable experts in Oriental Studies, Fine Arts, History and Languages.

We are delighted to sell individual items to new customers, but are at our best when building and sustaining long-term relationships. We act as advisors and booksellers to many of the world's finest collections, both private and institutional. We also sell important private collections of books, periodicals and documents.

As well as selling books, we also buy them, and do so around the world. We take pride in being honest and generous buyers and have the resources to deal with the largest of collections as well as interesting individual items. Since we like to keep abreast of our field and because we are constantly buying high quality, scholarly libraries, we also have a strong stock of area and cultural studies titles for the region.

We also encourage the understanding and appreciation of the cultural heritage of Central Asia, Russia and China through organizing and participating in different cultural events.
